Biography
Mohammad Rakibul Hasan (M R Hasan) is a versatile creative professional from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He specializes in documentary and commercial photography, filmmaking, journalism, visual arts, and art education. His work focuses on human rights, social development, politics, environmental issues, brand promotion, and spirituality. He collaborates with editorials, advertising agencies, corporations, and international NGOs worldwide.Hasan's talent has been recognized on an international scale, with nominations for prestigious awards and victories in numerous photography competitions worldwide. His accolades include the Lucie Award, One World Media Award, Human Rights Press Award, Allard Photography Prize, and PX3 Prix de la Photographie. His work has been exhibited in renowned galleries such as Photo Basel, Shanghai Photo Festival, NordArt Festival, Berlin Photo Festival, Belgrade Photo Month Festival, and Indian Photo Festival.Hasan's educational background is a testament to his dedication to his craft. He holds a One-Year Certificate in Creative Practices with a Director’s Fellowship/Scholarship from the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City, a Postgraduate Certificate in Photography, and a BA (Honors) in Photography from Falmouth University in the UK. His academic pursuits also include an Undergraduate Certificate in Art History and Philosophy from Oxford University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Photojournalism with a full scholarship from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. Hasan's learning journey also took him to the UBS Film School at the University of Sydney, where he studied Film and Video Production, and the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), where he participated in various Masterclasses in Film-related programs.Hasan is a visual journalist for ZUMA Press, Redux Pictures, Inter Press Service (IPS), and the Thomson Reuters Foundation. He is a full member of Diversify Photo and the Asian Art Association (AAA) in Singapore. The °CLAIR Galerie in Switzerland represents his artworks. He is a consultant photographer/filmmaker for organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO), UN Women Asia Pacific, Oxfam, the British Red Cross, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, ActionAid, WaterAid, and other international non-profits and corporate entities.He is a Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Fellow, a former TEDx speaker, and a 2022 fellow of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network (OCJN) at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford.
