Biography 

Mohammad Rakibul Hasan is a Bangladeshi documentary photographer, filmmaker, visual journalist, and visual artist whose work bridges humanitarian storytelling, social justice, and environmental advocacy. With more than two decades of experience, he has built an international reputation for producing powerful visual narratives on climate change, migration, labour rights, public health, and marginalized communities.

He has contributed to leading global media outlets including the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Al Jazeera, ZUMA Press, Inter Press Service, Le Monde, and The Daily Star. He has also worked with major organizations such as WaterAid, UN Women, British Red Cross, FAO, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank, producing documentary films, campaigns, and photographic essays focused on human dignity and social impact.

Hasan’s academic background spans several countries. He studied at the International Center of Photography in New York, earned a BA (Honours) and Postgraduate Certificate in Photography from Falmouth University, pursued Art History and Philosophy studies at University of Oxford, completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Photojournalism at Ateneo de Manila University, and studied Film and Video Production in Australia.

His internationally recognized awards include the Lucie Award, One World Media Award, Human Rights Press Award, Allard Photography Prize, PX3 Prix de la Photographie, and recognition connected to the COAL Prize exhibition context in Paris. His acclaimed works include The Taste of Honey, Forget-Me-Not, and the long-term project The Blue Fig, exhibited globally. Hasan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMC) at Daffodil International University, Bangladesh.
